That moment in the kitchen when you poked me in the ribs
It felt like we were dating again, foolish, mischievous kids.
I hadn't thought it mattered much that I smiled for you less often.
I didn't know you'd noticed it or perhaps you'd just forgotten.

So sweep me off my feet once more or make me fall headoverheels.
Send my heart soaring across the sky and throughout many years.
Through each cliche, love conquers all, or if you love me setmefree
All these things mean nothing next to all you mean to me.

But then you told me it turns you on whenever I smile at you
and now we're grinning at each other, suddenly it's all brand new
You've said you loved me many times and I've said it back again
But these simple moments together are when you're also my best friend.

So sweep me off my feet once more or make me fall headoverheels.
Send my heart soaring across the sky and throughout so many years.
Through each cliche, love conquers all, or if you love me setmefree
All these things mean nothing next to all you mean to me.
This was originally written for :iconthe-writers-review: contest "Break the Love Cliche" [link] but I decided not to enter it after all because it doesn't quite fit in the contest because of my use of cliches, but anyway, thanks for the inspiration!

:excited: I got so excited when this piece came together!

I really think this piece means a lot to me and I'm planning to set it to music to give to my husband. :whisper: Perhaps I'll have it all practiced up by his birthday in June and I can surprise him!

:w00t: The first thing I've written that became a song! :w00t:

Looking at this piece makes me think of life after the wedding vows.
Every thing starts off so freash and new but as time goes on we tend to forget those little things that sparkled like a jewel.
I like the first stanza very much indeed because it reminded me of how things can be and this is potreyed here.
The second and last stanza are asking for things to be renewed and you wanting to be ecompassed in this beautiful memory of the begining.
The expressions in the third stanza, it is nice to think that those we choose to be with can re-kindle true love with just a few simple words.
The impact of this>> well I went reeling down memory lane to a place where I was once young and impetuous, and sponteneyity ruled.
I love it and I cannot see anything that would need to be changed here at all.
A lovely piece.<img class="avatar" src="a.deviantart.net/avatars/x/p/x…" alt=":iconxpose-it:" title="Xpose-it"/>
