Look into My Eyes

When you hug me
it feels needy
like you aren't giving me a hug
but forcing me to give you one

When you grab me
in the shower
it makes me feel demoralized
like I'm nothing but a body
an empty shell

I want you to look inside me

Look into my eyes and reach in even deeper
Take my heart in your hands
and help it beat properly
because lately
I feel it stutter and shift
and I am filled with an ache
that radiates out, filling my entire body

and sometimes the pain gets so much
I wish it would stop beating altogether.
