EcstasyHeat scorches skin rushing
color to my face, my
beating heart pounding faster
and faster
at the sight of you. I feel
my nerves stretch
strain to keep up with the
rhythm of blood's rushing race.
It simmers my senses,
scalding within me and I'm
sweating quietly inside
without moisture.

You come inches away and I'm
blinded by your vivid
orange sunlight aura
piercing me. I blink
rapidly, cannot breathe
your face draws in,
pressing soft pillows to my mouth...

and your bite is juicy--
--it runs down my chin in mango delights--
tasting like you and
my senses scream in ecstasy
at your tenuous flavor quenching my silly girlish

       without any cares

Christmas Plum JamIt was to be a different kind of Christmas this year for the little family who had packed up their little home into a little white trailer. They had then driven the many far-reaching miles to the big beautiful mountains and white sparkling snow of the state of Utah so Daddy could start school by the big Y on the mountainside.

Little Jimmy and Krissy helped Mommy at home during the day, while Daddy was at school. As the holidays grew closer, worry lines began to appear on Mommy's face as she contemplated what to do about presents this year.

One day Mommy had an idea. She had recently learned how to make jam and wanted to give jars of jam

the first breath afterwardstatic runs within my veins
and pricks my toes
sending numb sensations through
my body in waves and i am the snow on the screen
hushing the room with its noise
a distant screaming crowd
roaring as they fall and fade

my hair sticks to my neck
and heat drips from my skin
leaving pathways for electric currents
to travel their course
give me life again

but i can't breath

my throat is full of sand
the salty taste catches flies
and throws them out again
as my body convulses
i choke

my eyes fill and overflow
bees escaping through my tears
stinging as they fly away

leaving laughter behind that falls to

Our First Christmas TreeI've seen many beautiful trees at Christmas time. Some have such elaborate decorations in specific color schemes and so many ornaments I could spend hours looking at it and still miss some of them. I've even seen a tree which had lights that could dance and twinkle in time with the holiday music that played along. But of every tree I have seen throughout the years, one still stands in my memory as the most beautiful tree.

That Christmas, our small family decided that instead of our usual day-trip to Grandma's house, we would be staying at home for the first time. We knew it would be a smaller Christmas with less frills and presents, but

I remember the feel of the cool rain on my skin.

I remember the scent of the coming of Spring.

I remember everything about that moment, as if I'm frozen in time.

I remember how it felt as your hands slipped out of mine.

I remember the way your voice sounded different, hollow.

I remember the way your hair moved in the breeze of the incoming storm.

I remember seeing the emptiness in your eyes as a flash of lightening shot across the sky.

I remember the taste of salty tears running over my lips and dripping off my chin.

I remember hearing the breaking of my heart.

Just Love"Why do you love me?"

I'd asked this question countless of times before, but never seemed to understand the answer. The answer was always different, yet it was never solid and never was reason enough for me. Things like, "because you're beautiful" or "because you're a great mother" or the infamous "because you love me." They all seemed obvious. Still not good enough reasons to me. The reason for my disbelief was given in his answer this time.

"I don't know."

A Moment of MagicThe phrase echoed in my mind as I stood in the trees next to the brook and looked down at her little face.

"Do you believe in fairies?"

Her little voice was soft and innocent - her dark, deep eyes looked up at me with a twinkle of excitement - and it brought back memories from long ago.

I doubted my own thoughts. I didn't want to mislead my child.

But I remember it as though it had been a dream. I had been half my height and my hair was long - much like hers. It was in this very place that I had seen the little twinkling lights at dusk. I had been sitting under that tree over there, pondering my life. I was about to get up and go home bec

a fountain of steam
connecting her frigid form
to the gray sky

Her eyes close coldly

graceful as a bird
plummeting to silence

torn between the sacred and the sweet

She Changed MeThe day was overcast in shadows. I trudged through the fallen leaves, listening to them rustle beneath my feet, my eyes followed them. No need to look up, I'd followed this route so many times before. Flowers in hand, I approached the cold hard square of stone. I ran my fingers of the etched lettering. The cold hard surface seemed to be a reflection of the surface of my heart.

It was a weekly thing, visiting his grave. My life revolved around these little trips down the road to his place. It had become my place too. My world had compressed down into a tunnel of vision that led from my house to this very spot. It was like the rest of the worl
